Pilates

Body Control Pilates is a mind/body conditioning exercise programme targeting the deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine to improve overall core stability & posture. As you progress through a variety of exercises you will notice improved core strength, flexibility & movement control throughout your body. As well as being a great way to exercise, this also helps with the long term relief of spinal and joint pain.

Body Control Pilates classes are taught at our clinic by Sue Small

Sue is a Level 3 REPs & Body Control Pilates Teacher and qualified in June 2010.

I first fell in love with Pilates when I became pregnant with my son 10 years ago. I suffered with pelvic and low back pain which resulted in a sciatic nerve pain down my leg. I was advised to try Pilates.
I had always loved the gym and running, so thought it wasn’t for me. However I was so wrong, it was exactly what I needed to compliment the repetitive overuse and strain on my joints.
I now love teaching classes, being able to pass on the benefits I reaped to other people. I love meeting new clients and seeing their bodies develop new & improved movement patterns. I also love the challenge of pushing my longer standing clients to try new exercises, increasing their strength and stamina.
Pilates is great for anybody  young, old, new to exercise or the more experienced sports person. Everybody can benefit from a regular class, whether you’re interested in inner strength or relaxation. Give it a try today you will never look back.

How Body Control Pilates is taught.

Body Control Pilates is taught in a range of ways including 1-1 private tuition, 2-1 sessions (bring a friend) and group classes. All the sessions and classes last for 1 hour.  They are held in the gym area at our clinic. The individual sessions can be booked in advance and the times are available on request. Group classes are held on a Wednesday evening. The ‘Beginners’ class starts at 6.30pm and a slightly more progressive class starts at 7.30pm.

The sessions are very popular with clinic patients who depending on their specific needs, benefit from working on a particular aspect of Pilates. Those without any aches or pains also benefit by improving their core stability and realigning their bodies.

The classes are small and contain no more than 12 clients to safeguard individual correction and instruction.  The classes are pre-bookable in a block of 6 weeks ensuring that your place is guaranteed each week. At the end of the 6 weeks you have the opportunity to rebook to maintain your place before it is offered to others.
